I hope you are all having a very blessed and peaceful start to the New Year.
I’ve been taking some time away from Miss Millie Millie for the last few months. I found that towards the end of last year I had allowed myself to become too overly involved in too many things and as a result my sense of focus and overall wellbeing was greatly diminished.
I had stopped going to yoga regularly, I began eating meat again, and I developed a candy-crush addiction that my beloved fiance’ described as “riiiii-diculous” (bless his cotton socks).
With the start of the new school year fast approaching (marking the beginning of the end for my teaching degree), I have had to snap myself out of the candy-crush playing, walking-dead watching pillow fort I have come to call home and re-energise myself, change my perspective as it were, so that I am ready to be the best student teacher I can be for the brave little high-schoolers soon to walk across the thresh-hold of my classroom.
I realise that the less stuff I do, the less energy I have to do stuff.
For example, if I lie around in bed until 10am, then I take longer to energise myself, every little thing seems like a chore and the day is done and dusted before it’s even begun. However, if I get up at 6am, take the doggos for a run and do some yoga, I am more likely to want to keep doing stuff for the remainder of the day.
So with my new found energy I have decided it is time to come out of hibernation and set myself up for the year with an entirely new perspective. To accompany this new found train of thought I have developed a set of mantras that I will endeavour to live by in 2019;
- I will be kind
- I will be patient
- I will practice yoga everyday, even when I’m sleepy
- I will go to Church as much as I can, even when I’m sleepy
- I will write down 3 things I am thankful for every evening before I go to bed
As the year goes on I am certain that this list, like me, will grow and change until eventually it will have morphed into something entirely new.
